New Orleans must be rebuilt like Venice, Italy.

I've always wanted to visit New Orleans, but had postponed said road trip for a couple years for various reasons, most of which centered around my lack of funds. Now I wish I had gone. I have some friends from there, and luckily their families are for the most part safe, but nonetheless it sucks that a city with such a rich history and culture has been so ruined. The same could be said for Bagdad, while we're on the subject.

I think they should rebuild New Orleans like they rebuilt Venice after it flooded a few times: as a marine city with canal streets.

That's right. New Orleans should not be moved from it's present location, nor should it be drained. It should be reconstructed as an amphibious city. Instead of attempting to drive through Mardi Gras road blocks, one should be able to take a quick gondola ride over to the French Quarter.

Just imagine... New Orleans and Venice combined. Truly, it would be the greatest city on the planet. Civilization cannot work against nature... it must go with the flow, as it were.

New Orleans must be rebuilt as a labyrinthine AQUAPOLIS!!!! I can picture it now...

If only I had the power to make such decisions.
